Reflecting Ibiza's hippie past
Las Dalias first saw the light of day on November 4, 1954, under the impetus of Joan Marí at the San Carlos. What was originally just a bar with a dance floor, has continued to grow and welcome new visitors over the years. A restaurant, ballroom and venue for all the events held on the premises, and finally the stage for hippy parties from the 1960s onwards, Las Dalias has become the place to be, the place to spend time and get together. The hippies who made Las Dalias their favourite place to be set up concerts called "jam sessions" where Bob Marley himself would have spent an evening during his exceptional concert on the island... just that. Many other famous artists have performed in Las Dalias such as Nina Hagen, Banzai or Barricada. Real refuge for artists, thinkers, but also for all those in search of freedom and brotherhood, Las Dalias was the symbol of the peaceful and joyful life of the hippies. After a fire that caused a lot of damage to the musical installations, the first market was created in 1985 highlighting the island's handicrafts and the hippie style that never left Las Dalias.
A unique atmosphere
Although the organization of musical performances was put to the test, nothing stopped the leaders of Las Dalias nor the celebrities, who were particularly fond of this site and decided to return to it en masse a few years later. Las Dalias welcomed Manu Chao and more than 4,000 visitors, a true organizational feat. Today Las Dalias continues to receive artists from all over the world, to offer small and large concerts depending on the time of day, but also numerous art exhibitions. Las Dalias organizes several cultural events such as the Namaste festival, which since 1997 celebrates every Wednesday the culture of different countries through music, dance, but also delicious
vegetarian cuisine. Faithful to its values, Las Dalias transforms itself those evenings into a real meeting place, a place to exchange on diversity and a hymn to freedom. An unforgettable rendezvous. An international reggae festival, evenings on the theme of electronic music, but also flamenco and rock, all in a hippie atmosphere that never leaves the soul of Las Dalias.
A place of shopping not to be missed
The small hippy market of 1985, which had 5 stands, has now become a real renowned market with more than 300 stands! We like to stroll through the colourful stalls on Saturdays, but also by the glow of the light garlands in the evening. Indeed, Las Dalias now offers a night market with a bewitching atmosphere that is held on Mondays and Tuesdays in the summer. At the same time, you will find the Christmas market in winter, but also the special market of the Holy Week for Easter. These different
markets throughout the year are the perfect opportunity to find beautiful pieces typical of Ibiza and the hippie culture, but also all kinds of souvenirs of your stay on the island, all of which value the local handicrafts. As far as catering is concerned, don't plan your picnic! Las Dalias offers cafes, restaurant, juice bar, sky bar, beach bars, a pizza point but also a van where you can enjoy delicious dishes from all over the world!
