The island of Es Vedrà
2 km off the southwest coast of Ibiza is an uninhabited rocky island that is shaped by a 400-metre-high rock that can be admired from the beach at Cala d'Hort. Es Vedrà is known as the third most magnetic place on earth, along with the North Pole and the Bermuda Triangle, making it a popular place for spiritual practices such as meditation. The magic of this landscape has not only dazzled visitors to the island, but the rock has also inspired the 7th art and replaced the volcanic island Bali Hai in Hawaii for the film "South Pacific" released in 1958. Es Vedrà is the subject of many myths due to its supposed magnetism, but if all this is just an urban legend, the magnificence of the island is undeniable.
Located in the north of Ibiza, a lighthouse stands on the small island of Botafoc and is one of the first lighthouses to have housed lighthouse keepers. In ancient times, lighthouses were used to illuminate the path of fishermen and sailors. In 1859, the architect Roses Andrés began the construction of the famous lighthouse of Botafoc and came into operation 2 years later in 1861. You will be able to observe the lighthouse from the port because the causeway that links the islet to the mainland is closed to the public.
